Social action and communication media production

Hello fellow internet users.

When creating a corporate production for Specialist Support Schools Partnership who is a group of school’s that have been put together to create a wider team within the community of Tameside. We were given a brief that aimed to provide evidence of independence throughout the school from children at the age of 4-11 when communicating with other students and teachers when developing their knowledge of the day-to-day world. This is to raise the awareness for the SSSP as a local level. We did this by creating a visual view that will be used for the public to watch and explore schools such as Oakdale Primary School that cater for children with certain learning difficulties that specialises for children that are non-verbal, so that their use of communication is through signs and symbols. When producing a promotional film for the school we intended to portray the teachers and the children working together as a team with a positive attitude on the school causing the audience to feel as if they have had a true insight on every child’s needs.

The target audience that the promotional film will be reaching out to would be parents of the local community that will have students that are attending the school as they will be able to have an inside look on what their child will be learning and developing on a social and independent level. This video will be used to inform the community and the educational authorizes as they will be able to access the corporate film on the schools website. By doing so we were able to gather information on how each teacher in the school develop each child’s independence on their learning skills and within the social skills throughout the experience and by using the use of interviews.

The visual path of the corporate film shows it’s audience that each individual child that will attend Oakdale Primary School will have the correct equipment to help them learn and communicate with others, this school also provides rooms such as the sensory room which helps to calm the children down as this school caters for children with Moderate learning difficulties. Throughout the film the audience will gather a true sense of independence as each teacher encourages the children to take part in every day activities such as doing their groceries and talking on the phone. This will help the children for when they grow up, as they will be able to go and do their own shopping without always needing other peoples help.

How this film shows representation for Oakdale Primary School is by showing the independence within each child when interacting with other students and teachers and the independence within their education when they are developing their knowledge and skills. We shown this by showing the use of signs and symbols being used when there was commination being used between a child and the teachers, for example when it was dinner time for the students they will use symbols of what food they would like to eat and exchange it with their teacher for their chosen meal.

How this corporate film has strengthened the community is by creating awareness for the SSSP, by doing so the schools are able to help their students to achieve the support that is needed so that the parents will feel more comfortable as their child is in a more safe environment.
